Back in February, I headed up to Albany to celebrate my best friend, Shelby, because she's about to become a mother! You may remember her from what we've decided are now annual traditions - our summer trips to Mystic and Dippikill. She's been my best friend for more than half my life, and when I stood up next to her at her wedding, I knew that motherhood wasn't too far away for her, so I'm very glad to have been able to celebrate this special day with her. I wish I'd been able to help more with the shower, but between work and grad school applications and our then-upcoming trip to India, I wasn't able to do as much as I would have liked.
But, on the bright side, Shelby and her mom did a great job planning it! It had a light Harry Potter theme, with owl and forest creature decorations, a delicious brunch spread, and everyone's favorite cake in the world from Cocodots bakery.
Shelby's nursery is also Harry Potter themed, so there were a few gifts that went along with it. This onesie came all the way from Scotland:
And there was also a beautiful Harry Potter quilt. I myself made a Gryffindor scarf-inspired blanket. This baby better love to read!
Both of the baby's grandmothers were also there to celebrate:
I'm so glad that we were all able to come together and show Shelby how much she means to us. She's an amazing friend (she actually gave me a gift while I was there - of amazing foods from upstate NY to convince me to move up near her - even though it was her big day), and I know she's going to make an incredible mother one day very soon.
Can't wait to meet you, Baby Hickey-Teaney! Bonus points if you come say hello on Roger's birthday!
