A Little Down Time

Although things were tightly scheduled, we still had a little down time between our portraits and the ceremony. We spent some time drinking beers outside the hotel before heading to the church. It was one of the few moments in the day that felt really normal, like we were all sitting in the sun relaxing at a picnic instead of being moments away from making a lifetime commitment. Maybe not coincidentally, these are some of my favorite photos from the day.

Once 3 p.m. rolled around we made our way to the church. Roger and I drove in our Outback, while the bridesmaids hopped in the back of my parents' pickup truck and the HWS folks gathered in the van Emily was kind enough to DD for everyone.

I have to say, although I was feeling great all morning, my anxiety really picked up in the car and didn't really let up for the rest of the day. There had been a few scheduling snafus and hurt feelings over the timing of the portraits, and it rattled me more than I expected. Driving to the church, I was never so grateful to have Roger by my side. Even though I was feeling terribly anxious, I was still so thrilled to be vowing to spend our lives together.

All the flower children and their parents met us at the church, and we spent about a half hour decompressing before the ceremony began. This is one of the last photos of me as a single lady, with my sweet cousin, Hailey:
